What is Solar Electric?

Solar is simply energy from the sun. Solar electric energy uses the power of the sun to produce electricity through solar cells, or photovoltaics.

Who is Solar Electric For?

People decide to use Solar Electric for a variety of reasons. Some people want to preserve the Earth and its environment, while others want to invest in an energy-producing improvement to their home or business. Some people like the security of being less vulnerable to future price increase of utility companies.

How Does it Work?

Sunlight hits the solar panels where the light is converted into DC (direct current) electricity. which is needed by home appliances. The DC electricity then enters into an inverter where it is converted to AC (alternating current) electricity which is needed by home appliances. The AC power enters the utility panel in your home and is distributed to lights and appliances. On most sunny days, more energy is generated than needed in the house. The surplus electricity flows out through the electric meter and causes the electric meter to spin backwards, building up credits.

Advantages

Environmentally friendly–Does not pollute the environment and contributes to the decrease of green house gas emissions, acid rain, and global warming.
Saves money and is virtually maintenance free.

Disadvantages

Initial Cost.
The efficiency of the system relies on the location of the sun.
It is important to remember that these disadvantages can be managed.

What type of Solar Electric system is available?

The Grid Tie is the type of system available. In New Jersey, we are all connected to the power company which is known as The Grid Tie. Electricity is supplied from the solar electric system on the owner's property and is fed back to the grid, or power company. Four Point also offers Solar pool heating and Solar hot water.
